10 Minute Pumpkin Caramel Sauce sumayadaden, October 14, 2023October 14, 2023 “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” — Lucy Maud Montgomery, Ann of Green Gables It’s finally Autumn, and I’ve unapologetically decorated my home with pumpkins and fall leaves. Fall is one of my favourite seasons, and I suppose it’s due to the drastic change in colours and temperature that truly sets it apart from its counterparts. I was born in the fall, and despite not celebrating my birthday, this time of year triggers a sense of belonging alongside the browning trees. Now, Pumpkin Spice Lattes are all the craze right now, and I was able to get my hands on one during my daughter’s NICU stay. It was delicious. The sweet notes of cinnamon and spice paired with the savory taste of pumpkin put the drink in a league of its own. I had to stop myself from buying another that very day. They are quite pricey, which pushed me to make my own pumpkin caramel sauce. This sauce is quite thick, and a little goes a long way. I’ve used it in Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Buns, in teas and coffee too. It pairs well with anything sweet, turning that dessert into a fall-themed treat. If you want a runnier sauce, simply lessen the pumpkin puree by half. In this recipe, both the pumpkin puree and the caramel are canned. Because they are ready for immediate use, making this recipe is extremely simple and quick. Ingredients 250ml of ED Smith Pure Pumpkin Puree 300ml of Eagle Brand Dulce De Leche Sweetened Condensed Milk 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 teaspoon of salt (Optional) 2 tsp of pumpkin spice powder Instructions Gather all necessary ingredients In a sauce pan, whisk the Dulce De Leche Sweetened Condensed Milk and the Pure Pumpkin Puree together on medium low Once heated, add the cinnamon, vanilla, salt Continue to whisk to avoid a film gathering on the surface. Remove the thick film that gathers on surface before next step Pour sauce into a squeeze bottle of your choice and enjoy! Recipes
